Elizabeth McGowan is an Associate in the firm’s Raleigh office and focuses her practice on health care, employment, and professional liability defense.
Elizabeth represents medical, dental, and mental health providers in pre-suit matters, litigation, and licensing investigations. She frequently defends health care and mental health providers working in jails and prisons against Section 1983 claims of deliberate indifference. She also defends other licensed professionals in a wide range of industries against claims of malpractice and negligence.
Her employment work focuses on defending employers in matters involving claims of discrimination, harassment, negligent hiring and retention, wage and hour violations, and ADA violations. Elizabeth handles matters in state and federal courts as well as before administrative agencies, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and professional licensing boards.
