Biography

Sydney Fetten is a Partner in the New York office of GRSM. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey. 

Sydney represents clients in numerous fields of litigation, including construction litigation, premises liability, professional liability, and commercial matters. Her construction litigation practice includes the defense of construction design/defect claims as well as claims brought under the New York Labor Law. Sydney's practice involves defending a broad range of clients, including residential and commercial property owners, general contractors and construction managers, subcontractors, architects and engineers, and both small and large businesses. Sydney has comprehensive experience in handling all stages of litigation, including drafting pleadings, discovery documents, numerous motions including motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, and discovery-related motions, and appellate briefs; conducting and defending depositions; arguing motions in state and federal courts; participating in mediations and settlement negotiations/conferences in a wide range of disputes before federal and state trial courts. Sydney also has experience in arguing appeals before the First and Second Appellate Divisions in New York.

Prior to joining GRSM, Sydney was an associate attorney and of counsel at a regional litigation defense firm. During her time there, she gained significant experience in every aspect of litigation in both state and federal courts.

Sydney graduated from George Washing University in 2012, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs. She then attended Fordham Law School, graduating in 2015. During law school, she was a member of the Fordham Urban Law Journal, a competitor and competition editor for the Dispute Resolution Society, and a recipient of the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award. During law school, Sydney gained experience serving in Fordham Law’s Appellate Litigation and Mediation Clinics and working as a research assistant. During her second year of law school, she won First Place Award for Outstanding Individual mediator at the International Law School Mediation Tournament, hosted by the International Academy for Dispute Resolution in Chicago. During her third year of law school, Sydney coached a team that won First Place Award for Outstanding Advocate-Client Team in the Same Tournament in London.

Sydney enjoys travel and recreational distance running. She has completed several marathons, including the New York City Marathon, and numerous half-marathons.
