Tyler R. Smith is Senior Counsel in the Des Moines office of GRSM with extensive experience representing civil defense clients in a diverse range of legal fields. He is a member of the Drug & Medical Device, Professional Liability Defense, Employment Law, Government, Regulatory & Administrative Law, and Product and General Liability practice groups. Tyler focuses his practice in the areas of products liability, personal injury, construction, and real estate litigation. As an advocate for licensed professionals, he has represented hundreds of clients in matters involving over a dozen Iowa state agencies and has successfully helped clients navigate all phases of litigation from the initial complaint through final disposition

- Won an appeal in a copyright infringement action involving an alleged misappropriation of source code.
- Oversaw intellectual property protection and policing program for film studio, including numerous claims of copyright and trademark infringement.
- Successfully conducted a two-week breach of contract arbitration on behalf of the claimant in an advertising industry dispute that led to an arbitration award in excess of $2.8 million, which was fully confirmed after motions before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of
New York.
