Miami Partner David Gersten to Present on Artificial Intelligence for National Judicial College

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Miami partner David Gersten will present “The Intersection of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) and Judging,” for the National Judicial College (“NJC”) on Wednesday, June 30.

Gersten along with other NJC faculty will present to judges from the Ukraine on the intersection of artificial intelligence and judging. Judges will hear cases involving autonomous vehicles, medical malpractice, and other legal areas involving artificial intelligence. AI is impacting the way attorneys practice law including the deep analysis of judicial decisions enabling a litigator to tailor an argument to a particular judge’s consideration. The NJC faculty will assist the participants in assessing how a judge can determine if an AI system is trustworthy. Gersten will recognize and discuss judicial ethics and AI.

Gersten, former Chief Judge in Florida's Third District Court of Appeal, is a partner in the Commercial Litigation practice group. He represents clients in litigation and appeals in a multitude of areas, including commercial, labor, administrative, professional liability, real estate, land use, and probate law. He strategically advises clients on honing their legal issues to navigate potential evidence and procedural obstacles with both trial and post-trial implications in mind. His practice includes professional liability defense which includes regularly defending insurance agents, brokers, and other professionals in malpractice claims. Additionally, Gersten often serves as a mediator and arbitrator in complex cases.
