GRSM Partner Brandon Saxon Featured in Article on Navigating Employment Law Challenges Amid Legislative Volatility and AI Disruption

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Partner Brandon Saxon was recently featured in an article titled “Legislative Volatility, AI, Remote Work Among Challenges in Employment Law,” published by San Diego Business Journal (SDBJ).

The article delves into the key themes and insights from the 2025 Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) annual conference, where more than 20,000 HR professionals convened to discuss the rapidly evolving landscape of human resources and employment law. Speakers emphasized the importance of legal vigilance, responsible AI use, and adaptive strategies to navigate regulatory uncertainty, workforce expectations, shifting DEI policies, and technological disruption.

In the article, Saxon highlighted the legal complexities organizations face, particularly in states like California, as they strive to meet diversity goals without triggering legal backlash. “This has made documentation, neutrality in decision-making and legal vetting of DEI programs more important than ever,” he added. To navigate rapidly evolving policy changes, Saxon said, businesses must maintain heightened vigilance, regularly updating policies, handbooks, and training materials in close consultation with legal counsel.

Saxon serves as Chair of the San Diego office’s Employment group and Assistant Managing Parter of the San Diego office. He also serves as Vice-Chair of the firm’s National Employment Practice.
