In addition to this ranking, GRSM Construction practice group Co-Chairs Allen Estes and Angela Richie were featured in “Executive Insights 2026: Leaders in Construction Law,” where they shared insights on key risks to consider before signing construction contracts and discussed strategies for managing material cost volatility, supply-chain disruptions, and project delays.
Angela Richie discussed the challenges contractors face in navigating material cost volatility and supply-chain uncertainty, emphasizing that cost increases are often driven by factors beyond material prices alone, including tariffs, labor shortages, freight constraints, delayed design information, and slow approval processes. “In many cases, what appears to be a material escalation issue is actually a delay issue in disguise.”
Allen Estes highlighted the need for all project participants, from owners and designers to contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers, to carefully review contract terms governing responsibilities, communication protocols, and risk allocation before signing a construction agreement. “Before any construction contract is signed the parties should evaluate whether they fully understand and appreciate their risk and obligations under their respective contracts.”
Construction Executive developed The Top 50 Construction Law Firms™ ranking by surveying more than 600 U.S. construction law firms. The survey collected data on 2025 revenues from construction practices, the number of construction attorneys, the percentage of total revenues from construction practices, the number of states licensed, the establishment year of the construction practice, and the number of construction industry clients served in 2025. An algorithm weighted these factors in descending order of importance to determine the ranking.
