Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Partner Alexa Foley authored an article titled “Minimizing AI Bias Risks Amid New Calif. Workplace Rules,” published by Law360.
The article explores California’s new regulations, effective October 1, 2025, which extend anti-discrimination protections to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in employment decisions, including hiring, promotions, and evaluations. It highlights how employers must now audit their Automated Decision Systems (ADS), maintain detailed records, accommodate individuals affected by these tools, and monitor for bias to ensure compliance with the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA).
Foley focuses her practice on defending private clients and public entities in state and federal court against claims of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, and other employment-related claims. She also has experience defending clients in administrative hearings before the Labor Commission, the County of Los Angeles Civil Service Commission, and the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
