Arden Lowndes is an experienced litigator who is able to creatively and successfully work toward the best resolution for her clients both in and out of the courtroom. Over her many years of practice, Arden has litigated a broad spectrum of cases in state and federal courts for individuals, small businesses, and large international corporations in matters big and small. Her attention to detail, persistence, and ability to think outside the box have resulted in countless favorable results for her clients. Having gained significant experience in a variety of practice areas, Arden has found that she truly enjoys supporting and defending those who find themselves dealing with disputes in construction, real estate, and the related professions.

Arden is a different type of lawyer. She is not one to take a back seat and let things slide. Instead, she takes great pride in analyzing all the details that other lawyers won’t consider and uses those to her client’s advantage. This determination has led to a significant number of wins through dispositive motions and highly favorable settlements.

Arden takes pride in giving back to her community. She is a Past President of the Porter-Gaud Alumni Association Board, having served from 2019 through 2026. During her tenure, Arden spearheaded efforts to ensure that all in the alumni community enjoy a sense of true belonging with the school and with each other. She has also served as a mentor to law students and recent graduates. Within the firm, Arden developed the Charleston Office’s first summer associate program, which provides students with extraordinary opportunities to gain experience and receive mentorship before graduation. She has also created an internal associate training program, which provides newer attorneys with consistent opportunities to learn from each other and those who have been practicing for decades.

Outside of the office, Arden enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and their three young children. She can also be found cheering on the Clemson Tigers and Everton Football Club.

  • Obtained summary judgment for a subcontractor client in a construction defect action just weeks before trial, on the grounds that the Plaintiff’s claims were time-barred by the 13-year statute of repose. Successfully argued that there was no admissible evidence of gross negligence in the record after four years of discovery. Consequently, the gross negligence exception to the statute of repose was deemed unavailable to the Plaintiff, despite the Plaintiff’s efforts to create a material issue of fact with a last-minute affidavit from its expert, who opined that the contractor had been grossly negligent.
  • Obtained a critical dismissal of claims against the firm’s client, a custom residential builder in South Carolina. (February 2024)
