Brian Norkett focuses his practice primarily on commercial litigation and has extensive experience representing national, regional, and local financial institutions. Brian has defended hundreds of credit unions against consumer class actions involving excessive overdraft fees in both state and federal courts nationwide. He also represents clients in other consumer class actions in Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Truth in Lending Act (TILA) claims, as well as protects the rights of secured and unsecured parties in various bankruptcy and work-out proceedings. Additionally, Brian has defended a wide range of lender liability suits, embezzlement, check-kiting, and banker’s bond claims.

Brian has successfully prosecuted and defended lawsuits seeking injunctive relief related to the dissolution of closely held corporations and partnerships, the violation of non-competition agreements, and the disclosure of confidential business information. He also has experience defending claims of discrimination based on age, sex, national origin, and disability before state and federal agencies and in federal court. Brian has tried numerous bench and jury trials in addition to representing clients before arbitration panels and state and local administrative agencies.

Prior to entering private practice, Brian was a law clerk to Chief Justice Thomas J. Moran of the Illinois Supreme Court.
