Christoffer T. Binning

Senior Counsel

Chris Binning represents businesses, community associations, and property owners in commercial disputes, with particular depth in community association and real estate litigation. He brings years of civil litigation experience and a unique regulatory perspective from his former role as a staff attorney for the Utah Office of the Homeowners’ Association Ombudsman. Clients value his practical approach to assessing risk and resolving disputes efficiently.

His practice spans a range of commercial and civil litigation, including:

  • Contract and business disputes
  • Community association and HOA litigation, including disputes over CC&Rs, bylaws, and board governance
  • Real estate and property disputes

Chris manages cases from intake through settlement or trial. He represents clients in hearings and trials and negotiates resolutions that protect their interests.

At the Ombudsman’s office, Chris served as a neutral subject-matter expert for the state. He wrote formal advisory opinions resolving disputes between homeowners and associations and developed statewide training for homeowners, board members, and property managers. That perspective helps him spot the strengths and weaknesses of a claim early and find paths to resolution.

In private practice, Chris handled property, business, and HOA matters alongside broader civil litigation. He later served as chief operating officer of a Utah law firm, overseeing attorneys, budgets, and regulatory compliance. That role gives him a business-minded view of litigation cost and risk. Earlier, as a judicial law clerk for Utah’s Second District Court, he researched and drafted rulings and legal opinions.

Before practicing law, Chris served eight years in the U.S. Army, served throughout the Middle East and was awarded the Purple Heart. His military service shaped the discipline and composure he brings to high-stakes disputes.
