David P. Cerqueira is a commercial litigation attorney who represents businesses, professionals, and institutional clients in high-stakes disputes in both state and federal court. His practice encompasses commercial and civil litigation, including employment defense, general and professional liability, premises liability, and regulatory claims.

Prior to joining GRSM, David built his litigation foundation with prominent regional law firms in Roseland and Newark, New Jersey, where he handled civil matters from inception, including pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, and settlement negotiations.

After law school, David served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Rosemary Gambardella, U.S.B.J. (Ret.), former Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey. He also clerked for the Honorable Terry Paul Bottinelli, J.S.C. (Ret.) in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen Vicinage, Family Division. In both roles, David prepared bench memoranda, drafted motion papers, and contributed to written decisions.

During law school, in addition to clerking for law firms, David completed judicial internships with Judge Stacey L. Meisel, U.S.B.J. of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, Judge Terry Paul Bottinelli, J.S.C. (Ret.) in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen Vicinage, Family Division, and Judge Donald A. Kessler, J.S.C. (Ret.) in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Essex Vicinage, General Equity Part. David also gained experience advocating for underserved tenants in landlord-tenant disputes during his time with Essex-Newark Legal Services.
