Derek focuses his practice on commercial litigation and employment matters. He handles a variety of litigation, including breach of contract, wrongful termination, retaliation, and commercial collection actions. His experience includes preparing pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.

Prior to joining GRSM, Derek served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable David V. Nasta, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County, Civil Division. In that role, he assisted with motion practice, facilitated settlement conferences for small to high-stakes matters, and drafted written decisions for dispositive motions. His clerkship experience gave him insight into the strategic considerations that shape litigation from inception through resolution. He developed skills evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of cases, determining when cases were ripe for trial, and identifying opportunities to minimize risk and litigation costs while pursuing the best possible outcomes for the parties.
