Edward Slaughter serves as Chair of the Environmental and Toxic Tort Practice Group. He has been a trial lawyer for more than thirty years and has tried cases to verdict across the country including the California landmark defense victory in O’Neil v. Crane, et al. and Hayes v. Colgate-Palmolive Company, et al., where the jury found cosmetic talc personal care products did not cause plaintiffs cancer.

Edward manages national litigation and emerging risks, partnering with local GRSM offices in all 50 states and other outside counsel with industry and jurisdiction-specific experience. He has successfully managed mass tort cases nationally, obtaining thousands of dismissals without payment in the earliest stages of litigation. Edward has also been actively involved in reshaping the litigation landscape through tort reform. He assisted in drafting legislative proposals and testified before the Texas House Civil Practices Committee to close the loophole that allowed thousands of out-of-state claims to be filed in Texas.

Edward is also a frequent author and invited speaker on critical legal issues, alternative fee arrangements, and developing efficient models for legal project management and cost control.
