Farhana J. Shah

Senior Counsel

Farhana Shah focuses her practice on commercial litigation, representing businesses and insurers in complex disputes where strategic judgment, credibility, and efficiency are paramount. She is known for her disciplined advocacy, practical problem solving, and ability to navigate high exposure matters with clarity and purpose. Farhana approaches litigation with a business-minded perspective, tailoring strategy to align legal risk with her clients’ operational and financial objectives.

Farhana has litigated matters at every stage, from pre-suit analysis and negotiation through discovery, motion practice, and alternative dispute resolution. At her prior firm, she handled insurance coverage and defense matters involving multi-million dollar first-party property insurance and bad faith actions in both state and federal court. This experience sharpened her ability to assess exposure early, manage complex factual records, and position cases for favorable resolution, whether through targeted motion practice, mediation, or trial.

In addition to her litigation practice, Farhana provides pro bono legal services through the Aga Khan Economic Planning Board, where she leads a clinic dedicated to helping individuals and families plan responsibly and protect their legacies through formation of wills and trusts. Through this work, she offers clear, compassionate guidance on estate planning matters, reinforcing her belief that sound legal counsel plays a vital role in long term stability and stewardship.
