Frank Anthony Monago

Litigation attorney Frank A. Monago lends his extensive litigation experience as both a partner in private practice and in house Senior Counsel to the firm’s Environmental and Toxic Tort practice. Frank has taken matters to trial in state and federal courts, as well as both domestic and international arbitration. From early resolution to trial, Frank focuses on the best interests of his clients including litigation strategy, practical solutions and economics.

Experienced in state and federal courts and all stages of civil litigation, Frank is skilled at handling breach of contract, personal injury, mass tort and construction disputes. He can easily recognize the practical implications and business impact of litigation on the client. Frank looks for creative ways to resolve disputes at any juncture in the litigation, as well as taking into account the needs of the client in conducting the litigation.

Formerly, Frank was a partner in a litigation firm in Houston, TX before moving to in house Senior Counsel roles at an international oil and gas company and an international petrochemical company.

  • Oversaw successful international arbitration award on behalf of an international petrochemical company affirming its contractual right to buy out its 50/50 JV partner upon the change in ownership of the partner.
  • Obtained insurance coverage for the client for a chemical exposure lawsuit, after initial denial by the insurance company, resulting in an approximately $5MM savings to the client (settlement and defense costs).
  • Participated in first in-person jury trial post -COVID in the state of Louisiana conducted in local auditorium to ensure safe social distancing. Breach of contract case against co-owner/operator of petrochemical manufacturing plant settled mid-trial gaining significant value for the client.
  • Managed and oversaw the preservation of electronically stored information and physical evidence (in coordination with the FBI and DOJ) for the Deepwater Horizon litigation.
  • Managed Deepwater Horizon litigation and two trials in the Eastern District of Louisiana brought by the DOJ with a focus on quantification of barrels of oil spilled, control of the source of the spill and factors analyzed and penalties permissible under the Clean Water Act.
