John is a trial lawyer who defends businesses, professionals, and insurers in high-stakes civil litigation in state and federal courts. His practice focuses on insurance coverage, professional liability, employment, construction, commercial disputes, and catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims.

Over nearly two decades of practice, John has resolved cases with claimed damages exceeding $100 million and potential verdict exposure well beyond that. He has obtained summary judgment for clients in both state and federal court on contract, tort, and statutory claims. He has also successfully handled appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Much of John’s work over the past several years has involved insurance coverage and professional liability. He analyzes policy language, exclusions, and coverage obligations for insurers, and he litigates coverage and bad faith disputes. He also defends professionals and their insurers against negligence claims, including claims against insurance agents and brokers, inspectors, and real estate professionals.

In employment matters, John defends employers against claims of discrimination, retaliation, wage violations, and wrongful termination. He also counsels employers on workplace compliance. His construction practice includes defending complex construction defect claims.

Outside the office, John spends time with his kids and follows all things Razorback.
