Kevin A. Ameriks

Senior Counsel

Kevin focuses his law practice on defending clients against credit union class action claims nationwide.

For more than a decade, Kevin has concentrated on commercial litigation and has successfully prosecuted and defended high value, complex claims through trials and appeals. Specifically, Kevin has prevailed at dozens of bench trials on behalf of property owners and creditors, and has secured summary judgment for insurance coverage cases and other declaratory and chancery actions.

Kevin has successfully argued and defended against numerous post-judgment motions in Illinois circuit courts and has documented numerous workout agreements and forbearance agreements for distressed asset recovery. He has also negotiated valuable settlements at mediation and alternative dispute resolution.

Kevin has experience as a research assistant on a brief led with the United States Supreme Court that achieved stay of execution pending appeal of habeas corpus petition. Prior to joining GRSM, Kevin was a vice president and in-house counsel for a community bank in Chicago where he assisted with assessing risk management. He also was a leading litigation attorney at a mid-sized litigation rm in Chicago. During this time, Kevin developed extensive experience defending clients in a wide range of industries and specialties in Illinois state and federal courts.

  • Neder Capital Services v. Huynh, 2020 IL App (1st) 182554 – Trial judgment and fee award affirmed in entirety on commercial lease claims on behalf of shopping center owner client
  • 660 Indian Hill v. Vest, 2021 IL App (1st) 201114 – Court affirmed trial dismissal in favor of our client, and dismissed remaining case appeal
