Karam Grewal is a seasoned trial attorney with substantial experience of litigating high stakes matters in federal and state courts. She represents clients in complex commercial disputes, contested evidentiary proceedings, internal investigations, and matters requiring sophisticated litigation strategy, intensive fact development, and coordination with government agencies. Her practice is grounded in extensive trial experience, strategic advocacy, and a proven record of handling complex cases from investigation through verdict.

Before entering private practice, Karam served as a prosecutor in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she first chaired a dozen jury trials to verdict and litigated more than 70 contested evidentiary hearings in complex, multi-defendant matters. She managed every phase of litigation, from investigation and charging decisions through motions practice, witness preparation, trial presentation, and sentencing. Her experience includes litigating suppression motions, addressing novel evidentiary issues, examining and cross-examining witnesses, and presenting sophisticated digital and forensic evidence. Karam also routinely issued and enforced subpoenas directed to witnesses, records custodians, and third-party service providers, including successfully litigating motions to quash and other discovery disputes. Her courtroom advocacy and case preparation earned unsolicited judicial commendation.

Karam later served as trial counsel with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, where she appeared daily before the Immigration Courts in contested merits hearings and evidentiary proceedings. In that role, she litigated complex factual and legal issues, conducted direct and cross-examinations, challenged witness credibility, and advanced arguments regarding the admissibility, authenticity, and reliability of documentary and testimonial evidence. She also developed and executed a cross-border investigation involving foreign judicial records obtained through alternative legal channels when conventional international processes were unavailable, strengthening the government’s position in contested proceedings.

Karam began her legal career conducting presentence investigations, preparing court-grade investigative reports, and testifying in court. This early experience sharpened her investigative skills and provided a strong foundation for her litigation practice.
