Khelya M. Okunor focuses her practice on product liability, general liability, and trial practice matters. She is an experienced civil litigator who represents corporations, insurers, and insureds in a broad range of civil litigation matters, with an emphasis on trial practice and alternative dispute resolution. Khelya guides matters from inception through resolution, working closely with clients, claims professionals, and expert witnesses. Her approach combines detailed factual development with practical assessments of liability, damages, litigation exposure, and strategic considerations.

Khelya’s courtroom experience includes serving as first-chair counsel in both jury and bench trials and as co-counsel in multiparty trials. She is well versed in oral argument, dispositive and other pretrial motion practice, examinations of lay and expert witnesses, and substantive briefing. Beyond the courtroom, Khelya has represented clients in high-stakes mediations and high-value settlement negotiations.

Before joining GRSM, Khelya practiced insurance defense at a prior national law firm, representing corporate and public entities, as well as insurers, in matters involving personal injury, premises liability, habitability, trucking, and wrongful death. She later served as in-house trial counsel for national insurance carriers. This breadth of experience allows her to evaluate matters from multiple perspectives, anticipate opposing strategies, and provide clients with clear, business-conscious recommendations.
