Mackenzy A. Bean

Associate

Mackenzy Bean focuses her practice on the defense of manufacturers and industrial equipment suppliers in a variety of environmental and toxic tort matters involving exposure to asbestos, talc, benzene and various other chemicals.

Before joining GRSM, Mackenzy worked as an associate at a nationwide civil defense firm, where she represented manufacturers and suppliers in asbestos litigation at all stages of the litigation process, including drafting pleadings, responding to discovery, taking depositions and preparing settlement negotiations.

As a defense litigator, Mackenzy also advises consumer-facing businesses on cybersecurity risks and assists with discovery and defense strategy in class action lawsuits. Her practice further encompasses cannabis, hemp & CBD matters, serving as Vice Chair of the Cannabis Law and Regulations Committee of the Chicago Bar Association.

Mackenzy earned her J.D. from University of Michigan Law School. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she worked for a national debt collection law firm and specialized in bank and wage garnishment across Midwest jurisdictions. She held an M.A. in Social Science from the University of Chicago, where she was a research assistant for the Survey Lab. Mackenzy is fully bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. Outside of her practice, she enjoys learning Spanish and spending time with her husband and their four cats in the northern suburbs.
