Mallory McDonald Overman, along with Partner Blake Edwards, heads the Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas’ Labor & Employment practice group. Mallory advises and represents employers in various aspects of labor and employment law, including defending clients in discrimination lawsuits brought under federal and state law. She counsels clients regarding business governance, employment practices and risk mitigation practices. Additionally, she has experience representing companies in OSHA inspections, investigations, and citations. Mallory has represented clients in commercial litigation involving breach of contract, fraudulent conveyance, intentional interference with business contracts, the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act, and injunctions. Her versatile legal experience allows her to provide clients with valuable insight across practice areas, which assists in her zealous representation.

While realistically assessing potential outcomes and risk, Mallory strives to provide the best representation possible by identifying weaknesses of a case early on and strategizing with clients to optimize strengths to leverage the best outcome.

  • Represented small, regional, and national companies in state and federal charges of discrimination, Title VII, Title IX, 42 U.S. Code 1981, ADA, ADEA, PWFA, wage and hour class action, whistleblower, and civil rights lawsuits.
  • Provided Title IX trainings for educational institutions.
  • Counseled and defended businesses for OSHA inspections, investigations and citations.
  • Represented plaintiffs and defendants, both businesses and individuals, in contract and tort cases.
  • Counseled businesses regarding governance, internal operations, risk management and employment matters.
  • Applied for and maintained trademarks with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Counseled and defended licensed attorneys in ethics and legal malpractice complaints.
