Mary J. Goers

Senior Counsel

Mary J. Goers is a highly skilled litigator whose practice focuses on Employment Law and Professional Liability Defense. Known for her exceptional writing ability and meticulous command of the factual record, Mary brings a thoughtful, strategic, and detail-oriented approach to every matter she handles. She has developed a broad and impressive range of experience and has already achieved meaningful success across complex and high-stakes litigation.

Before joining the firm, Mary honed her skills at a Chicago-based civil defense law firm, where she handled a diverse docket of professional malpractice matters, employment litigation, and appellate work. Her experience includes drafting dispositive motions and appellate briefs, managing discovery, and developing litigation strategies grounded in careful legal analysis and precise factual development.

Mary also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the General Law Bureau, where she represented state agencies and officials in administrative review proceedings. In that role, she gained invaluable experience navigating government practice, administrative law, and nuanced procedural issues—experience that continues to inform her disciplined and pragmatic advocacy on behalf of her clients.

In addition to her litigation practice, Mary is deeply committed to the legal profession and to mentorship. She serves as a coach for Loyola University Chicago’s Seigenthaler-Sutherland First Amendment Moot Court Team, where she prepares law students for oral argument on complex constitutional issues and helps them refine persuasive advocacy skills. Mary is also a mentor to numerous law students and a board member of the Korean American Bar Association of Greater Chicago.
