Matthew C. Schmidt focuses his practice on employment law matters. He brings more than a decade of experience with the Superior Courts of California, including significant involvement in complex civil law and motion matters such as class action certification and settlement approval.

Matthew has drafted tentative rulings in complicated civil proceedings and has presented at regional conferences on emerging issues related to court administration and access to justice. His background also includes managing and supervising multiple departments, as well as providing guidance and drafting policy directives concerning court implementation of changes in law and practice. Through his work in the courts, Matthew developed a disciplined and impartial approach to evaluating legal disputes, enabling him to help clients assess strengths and weaknesses and pursue realistic, sustainable, and beneficial options.

Prior to law school, Matthew worked in the aviation industry and served as a wildland firefighter with the United States Forest Service.
