Matthew S. Vesterdahl is a multi-jurisdictional litigator and counselor based out of the Sacramento office of GRSM. Matthew maintains a robust litigation practice which includes Employment, Construction, and Commercial Litigation throughout various state and federal courts. Matthew provides clients with a wide range of services, from pre-claim counseling, training, and advice on risk mitigation and best practices for avoiding future claims, through the litigation process and dispositive motions, and ultimately through trial and arbitration.
- Obtained defense verdict in Ranson v. Samba TV, Inc. following a three-week jury trial in a pregnancy discrimination case. The plaintiff, an executive at Samba TV, Inc., alleged gender and pregnancy discrimination arising from her inclusion in a group of employees transitioning to a new company as part of a business acquisition, claiming bias against pregnant women and working mothers. The defence asserted that the acquiring company expressly requested the plaintiff’s inclusion. The trial team presented testimony from current and former employees, including working mothers and female executives, regarding their success and support within the company. The plaintiff sought several million dollars in damages, and the jury returned a verdict in favour of the defendant after two and a half hours of deliberations.
- Won summary judgment on behalf of a prominent medical group in a matter alleging Equal Pay Act violations.
