Maureen Duffy focuses her practice on employment and labor matters, providing practical, high-quality legal counsel and advocacy for organizations. Maureen is dedicated to helping employers achieve their business objectives through tailored, common-sense solutions and long-term professional partnerships.

Maureen represents employers in state and federal court, as well as in arbitration and mediation, in a wide range of employment disputes, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, disability accommodation, defamation, breach of contract, fraud, wage and hour, and other statutory and common law claims. She also represents employers before state and federal agencies, including the Department of Labor Standards Enforcement, the California Civil Rights Department, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Drawing on prior in-house experience, Maureen provides employers with practical guidance on workplace issues and emphasizes preventive strategies to reduce litigation risk. She advises employers on hiring and termination matters, leaves of absence, workplace investigations, workplace violence prevention, litigation avoidance, and compliance with equal employment opportunity requirements.

Having begun her career in Silicon Valley, Maureen advises businesses across numerous industries, including healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, retail, and technology, ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.

An experienced speaker and educator, Maureen has developed and presented training programs on the prevention of harassment and discrimination, reductions in force, alternative dispute resolution, wrongful termination, privacy compliance, and other labor and employment law topics.
