Melanie L. Alsworth

Senior Counsel

Melanie L. Alsworth is a former federal prosector and experienced litigator, leveraging her extensive experience with the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., and the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of California, to guide clients through all aspects of commercial litigation. Melanie is experienced in critically analyzing and assessing the credibility of evidence to effectively weigh possible outcomes and achieve the best results for clients.

As an Assistant Deputy Chief of Litigation with the Department of Justice, Melanie’s practice focused on violations of federal law by international actors, and advising leadership on complex legal strategies and litigation risks. She is experienced in financial matters and corruption and can advise on governmental investigations in these areas.

Melanie has tried cases before juries and judges in federal and state courts, arbitrated contract disputes, and argued appellate matters in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

  • Served as lead attorney in numerous international money laundering and drug trafficking prosecutions in federal courts.
  • Argued and won pretrial discovery motions, suppression motions, and motions for new trial in district courts.
