Austin King is a seasoned litigator focusing primarily on federal commercial litigation, intellectual property, toxic tort and environmental litigation, antitrust and competition, entertainment, media and sports law, government investigations, and white-collar defense matters. Austin is entrusted with the representation of clients in multidistrict litigation and other class and consolidated state and federal actions, including, but not limited to, “bet the company” litigation.

Austin gained invaluable experience serving as a law clerk to multiple state and federal jurists. Following law school, Austin served as a law clerk under U.S. District Judge Charles A. Pannell, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Austin also clerked for Judge John S. Arrowood of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He has served under Judge R. Chris Dillon of the North Carolina Court of Appeals, U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle of the Eastern District of North Carolina, and Chief Justice Paul M. Newby of the North Carolina Supreme Court.

Prior to joining GRSM, Austin worked as a litigation associate and subsequently as counsel at three international top-tier law firms as well as with one national firm, respectively.

  • In re: Solodyn – Minocycline Hydrochloride Antitrust Litigation, No. 1:13-MD-2503, D. Mass.
    • Represented a pharmaceutical client in multidistrict litigation where plaintiffs alleged violations of federal and state antitrust laws through exclusion of generic competition via sham patent litigation, reverse payment agreements, and product-hopping schemes. First-chaired fact and expert depositions.
  • In re: Broiler Chicken Antitrust Litigation, No. 1:16-CV-8637, N.D. Ill.
    • Served as an integral member of the joint defense group in a case alleging price fixing among the largest U.S. chicken producers.
  • In re: Interior Molded Doors Antitrust Litigation, No. 3:18-CV-718, E.D. Va.
    • Represented indirect purchasers in a private suit brought under the Clayton and Sherman Acts.
  • Stout et al. v. Alcon Entertainment, LLC et al., No. 20-CVS-6417, N.C. Business Court
    • Served as co-lead counsel on behalf of a film production company in a complex business court action and secured one of the largest sanctions awards in North Carolina history under Rule 37 of the North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Galvan Industries, Inc. v. Eclipse Automation Southeast, LLC, No. 1:22-CV-418, M.D.N.C.
    • Served as co-lead counsel for the defendant and negotiated a favorable settlement.
  • D.V. Shah Corp. v. Vroombrands, LLC et al., Nos. 5:19-CV-835 and COA22-104, N.C. Court of Appeals and N.C. Supreme Court
    • Served as lead counsel for the defendant-appellant and successfully secured an opinion overturning the trial court’s summary judgment ruling.
  • United States v. Brewbaker et al., No. 5:20-CR-481, E.D.N.C.
    • Represented a leniency applicant in a federal antitrust trial.
