Shawn McBrearty focuses his practice on labor and employment matters, directors’ and officers’ liability, shareholder litigation, and community association disputes. He has substantial experience evaluating and defending a wide range of claims, including discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower matters, disability and leave issues, wage-and-hour disputes, and shareholder and fiduciary-duty litigation.

Shawn earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Business and Law from Temple University in 2013 and his J.D. from Drexel University’s Thomas R. Kline School of Law in 2018. During law school, he completed pro bono work with Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA), advocating for individuals in unemployment matters. He later served as a certified legal intern at PLA and participated in a civil litigation clinic representing families and individuals in custody and domestic abuse matters. He also worked as a law clerk at a general civil litigation firm in Philadelphia.

Prior to joining GRSM, Shawn represented clients in a broad range of business and employment disputes in state and federal courts, FINRA arbitration, and administrative proceedings before agencies including the EEOC, PHRC, and OSHA. He managed matters through all phases of litigation, from initial pleadings and motion practice through discovery and trial preparation. He also advised employers on day-to-day workplace issues to support legal compliance and reduce potential liability, and worked with businesses on a variety of transactional needs, including drafting operating agreements, purchase agreements, and employee handbooks.
