Tonya Heathington’s practice focuses on general liability matters, and she assists corporations and businesses in a variety of civil litigation disputes.

Originally from Huntsville, Alabama, Tonya earned her Juris Doctor from Samford University, Cumberland School of Law. While in law school, she was a Class of 2025 Merit Scholar and served as an Academic Advisor. Tonya was a member of the National Mediation Team, Black Law Students Association, and Intellectual Property Law Society, and served as a student-attorney for the Cumberland Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic (C-VETS). As a student-attorney for C-VETS, Tonya provided support to veterans and their families across the state of Alabama with contractual and landlord-tenant disputes and drafted wills and advanced healthcare directives. She was also the runner-up in Cumberland’s Mediation Competition.

Prior to joining GRSM, Tonya was a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge John H. England III of the Northern District of Alabama, where she worked on civil and criminal matters. She also gained valuable experience as a law clerk at a defense firm where she focused on employment and educational law matters. In addition, she worked as a commercial legal extern for a large corporation and as a law clerk for a large technology company.
