William M. Hughbanks

Senior Counsel

Bill Hughbanks is Senior Counsel at GRSM. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on construction related matters. Bill regularly assists clients at the outset of a construction project by reviewing, negotiating and developing contract documents to protect the clients’ interest. He also counsels his clients in preparing claims and evaluating liability when a dispute arises on a project.

Bill advocates for his clients through all stages of a legal conflict, from pre-litigation negotiations all the way through trial or arbitration if necessary.

  • Represented a landlord in a dispute with a commercial tenant who allowed the commercial property to fall into severe disrepair. Successfully tried a bench trial resulting in nearly all repair costs being awarded to the landlord/client, in excess of $150,000, along with nearly all attorney’s fees.
  • Represented an excavation contractor in a dispute with project owner who alleged that improper fill dirt was deposited onto the project. The matter was tried to an arbitrator who returned a complete defense decision in favor of the excavation contractor.
