Y’Noka Y. Bass

Senior Counsel

Y’Noka Bass focuses her practice on labor and employment law, partnering with employers to navigate workplace challenges and develop practical, business-focused solutions. She counsels clients on a broad range of employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour compliance, employee discipline and terminations, leave and accommodation issues, workplace policies, and other day-to-day personnel matters.

Y’Noka also represents employers in employment-related disputes in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. Her experience includes defending claims involving discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour issues, whistleblower allegations, wrongful termination, and other workplace-related matters. Drawing on her litigation background, she helps clients proactively manage risk, address employee relations concerns, and resolve disputes efficiently.

Prior to joining GRSM, Y’Noka was an associate at a litigation firm, where she represented clients in a variety of employment and complex litigation matters, including wage disputes, class actions, trade secret claims, and civil rights litigation. She also served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Allen P. Walker in the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, where she drafted legal memoranda in complex mass tort litigation arising from the opioid epidemic.

In addition to her legal practice, Y’Noka serves as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she instructs first-year law students on the importance of their professional identity and how to be ethical leaders in the legal profession.

Outside of work, Y’Noka enjoys trying new restaurants, traveling, Pilates, and spending time with friends and family.
