Yan Ren represents U.S. and foreign clients in intellectual property and business matters, including trademarks, trade secrets, patents, copyrights, unfair competition, corporate, contracts, fraud, online advertising, and false advertising. With her research experience in FDA and industry experience in food and biotech industries, Yan also enjoys helping her clients in food & beverage, consumer products, and life science industries to comply with relevant government regulations and administrative laws related to agencies such as FDA, FTC, and EPA. She also provides strategic advice to clients on topics including e-commerce retail, online advertising, and intellectual property protection to protect and strengthen their business.

Prior to joining GRSM, Yan successfully defended a public entity in various types of civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Yan has extensive experience in all stages of civil litigation from responding discovery requests to drafting and winning dispositive motions.

During law school, Yan clerked at both an international law firm and a local boutique firm for various intellectual property and business matters. Yan also worked as a judicial extern during law school for the Honorable Dana Sabraw at the United States District Court Southern California District. Before law school, Yan was a microbiologist and worked in the biotech & food industry.
