What do you enjoy most about your practice?
I love working with complex litigation matters. Large and complex matters may be daunting to approach for some attorneys, however, they often provide the opportunity to explore creative strategies for resolution. It is very satisfying establish and execute a successful defense strategy to successfully extract a client from a difficult situation. Especially one with potential for significant liability. The visible relief to a client or organization after resolving such a matter is very rewarding.
What is the secret to obtaining successful trial results?
Teamwork is the single most important factor in obtaining a successful result in any litigation matter. Both the teamwork between the client and attorney, and the team behind the trial attorney ultimately trying the case. The first is important as an informed client can significantly assist the litigation attorney in the time leading up to trial. The second is equally important in executing the defense and trial strategy successfully.
What are your favorite pastimes when you are not practicing law?
I’ve always been a fan of the outdoors. San Diego and the Southern California’s landscape provide great opportunities for cycling, hiking, and backpacking. I also picked up surfing about 10 years ago, it has been an admittedly challenging but rewarding experience. My other favorite pastime includes just about everything involving my dog “Gilligan.”
