Christopher A. O'Brien is an Associate in the New York office of Gordon & Rees and is a member of the Commercial Litigation and Tort & Product Liability practice groups. Mr. O’Brien has negotiated and favorably settled numerous cases on behalf of his clients prior to and during litigation. He has extensive experience taking testimony of plaintiffs and expert witnesses as well as defending his clients at depositions.
Before he began working in the product liability field, Mr. O'Brien represented insurance carriers, third-party administrators and self-insured employers in matters arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and its extensions, including the Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act before administrative tribunals and federal courts throughout the U.S. He has also defended clients in general liability, medical malpractice and employment and labor law suits in state and federal courts.
Mr. O'Brien graduated cum laude from the University of Tampa John H. Sykes College of Business where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Economics. He graduated law school cum laude from Pace University School of Law where he was the student director of the advocacy program's mock trial and moot court teams.
