Heather E. Griffin is an Associate in the New York office of Gordon & Rees and is a member of the Employment practice group. Ms. Griffin has significant experience in employment law and focuses her practice on advising and defending employers. Ms. Griffin has defended employers against claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, whistleblower claims, breach of contract and other labor and employment litigation issues. She has significant experience in both state and federal courts and before government agencies at all levels, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, New York State Division of Human Rights and the New York City Commission on Human Rights.
In addition to defending employers in the courtroom, Ms. Griffin also advises and counsels employers regarding compliance with state and federal regulations, assists with Human Resource investigations and terminations, and has also conducted company-wide audits for compliance with federal wage and hour laws. Ms. Griffin has also drafted and negotiated a variety of employment contracts and restrictive covenants, including non-disclosure agreements.
Ms. Griffin also has significant experience in complex commercial litigation. She has prosecuted and defended actions for breach of contract, defamation affecting businesses and their principals, franchise disputes, and a number of other business torts.
Ms. Griffin is a proud “Double Gator” earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida in 2011, and her law degree in 2014 from the University of Florida, Frederic G. Levin College of Law.
