James W. Sukharev is an associate in the New York office of Gordon & Rees and is a member of the Employment Law practice group. He represents private and government entities in employment-related litigation venued in federal and state courts, as well as administrative agencies. His practice touches upon the full panoply of employment litigation matters, including workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblowing, non-compete agreements, and collective and class actions.
Mr. Sukharev has also counseled large national and international corporations during criminal and civil government investigations. He also represents individuals facing felony criminal charges.
Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Mr. Sukharev served as an assistant prosecutor in Bergen County, and litigated multiple jury trials to verdict as well as dozens of bench trials and pretrial motions. He also gained experience handling appeals, and has argued before the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
Following law school, Mr. Sukharev clerked in the Superior Court of New Jersey for the Honorable Margaret M. Foti, J.S.C. (now P.J.Cr.) in the Superior Court of New Jersey and then for the late Honorable Carol E. Higbee, J.A.D. in the New Jersey Appellate Division.

In his spare time, Mr. Sukharev provides pro bono representation to victims of domestic violence seeking restraining orders.
