Jordan L. Matthis is an Associate in the Chicago and Milwaukee offices of Gordon & Rees whose practice focuses on employment litigation.
As an employment litigator, Ms. Matthis represents a wide range of employers from small businesses to multimillion dollar companies with thousands of employees. Ms. Matthis advises, counsels and represents her clients in claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination. Ms. Matthis also devotes a large portion of her practice to minimizing the potential for litigation for her clients by reviewing, drafting and revising employee handbooks and company policies to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws.
Prior to joining Gordon & Rees, Ms. Matthis was an Assistant State’s Attorney in both the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau and Civil Actions Bureau of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant State’s Attorney, Ms. Matthis prosecuted criminal misdemeanors and defended Cook County against civil rights, labor and employment, and medical malpractice claims. Ms. Matthis has extensive litigation experience and has served as lead trial counsel in over 100 bench trials and in 14 jury trials taken to verdict.
Ms. Matthis earned her J.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Law where she served as a Legal Research and Writing and Trial Advocacy Teaching Assistant. She also served as a Member and Assistant Coach of the Mock Trial Team.
