Julie S. Varin is Of Counsel in the Boise office of Gordon & Rees. Ms. Varin has fifteen years’ experience handling complex commercial litigation matters. Working in both boutique and leading regional law firms, Ms. Varin has assisted corporate clients on a variety matters including product liability, intellectual property litigation, employment discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, contract, wage and hour, and ERISA issues. She also has served as defense counsel on class and collective actions seeking recovery of unpaid wages.
Her product liability experience includes the defense of a manufacturer in a matter involving toxic shock syndrome. Further, she assisted in the defense of a pesticide manufacturer against claims the herbicide damaged crops in Eastern Idaho.
Ms. Varin has successfully advocated for a variety of local, national, and global corporations in complex commercial disputes, handling cases from inception through pre-trial work.
Following law school, Ms. Varin clerked for United States Magistrate Judge Mikel H. Williams, District of Idaho. Ms. Varin also previously served as a staff attorney for United States District Judge Lynn B. Winmill, District of Idaho. Ms. Varin’s experience working in challenging environments is not limited to the legal sphere. Prior to entering the legal profession, Ms. Varin volunteered for a human rights organization in Argentina, worked in a surf shop in Costa Rica, provided kayak instruction in Seattle, and sorted salmon roe on a fish processing boat in Alaska.
