Michelle Steinhardt is a Partner in the Los Angeles office where she is a member of the Insurance and Employment practice groups. She has litigated hundreds of cases during all phases of litigation, including mediations, motion practice, trials and appeals. She handles cases in both state and federal court.  

Insurance and Benefit Litigation 

Ms. Steinhardt has over 10 years of experience representing insurance companies and corporations in a wide variety of issues, such as: 

  • Group ERISA and individual disability claims
  • Group ERISA and individual life insurance claims 
  • Health care disputes between providers and health plans
  • Breach of fiduciary duty claims
  • Bad faith lawsuits
  • Class actions involving pension disputes
  • 401(k) disputes
  • Third party administrator disputes

In addition, Ms. Steinhardt has assisted in creating a national approach to discovery for an insurance company and has overseen litigation in multiple states.

Ms. Steinhardt has defended her clients in numerous types of employment matters which include, but are not limited to: 

  • Wage and hour class actions
  • Harassment
  • Discrimination
  • Wrongful termination
  • Retaliation 

Ms. Steinhardt has advised her clients on a broad array of employment personnel matters such hiring, leave of absence policies, employee discipline and terminations, severance agreements, and wage and hour issues.  Ms. Steinhardt’s industry experience is broad, as she has represented companies in the security service, health, education, and non-profit sectors.
