The publication utilizes responses from a survey of General Counsel at the top 500 U.S. companies, as well as research from public records, leading publications and commercial databases. Gordon & Rees has received the Labor & Employment distinction in 2011, 2009 and 2008. The firm was also named a 2011 Go-To Law Firm® for Litigation, its third consecutive annual recognition in that category.
Corporate Counsel's General Counsel survey identifies each company's "primary law firm" and the criteria for recognition include "the firms that are on the company's preferred list; the go-to law firms for a specific practice area; [and] firms that handled the most important cases in the previous year." Gordon & Rees's recognition is included in the 2011 edition of In-House Law Departments at the Top 500 Companies.
