Gordon & Rees Announces Expanded Agricultural Chemicals & Pesticides Practice Group

Gordon & Rees announced the expansion of its Agricultural Chemicals & Pesticides Practice Group, led by Chair P. Gerhardt Zacher and Vice Chair Thomas J. Tobin.

Members of Gordon & Rees's Agricultural Chemicals & Pesticides Group have represented industry clients in transactions, regulatory compliance, environmental claims, and litigation for more than 20 years. The group now offers clients a full-service option across the industry.

The practice group is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of lawyers with extensive backgrounds in:

  • Crop and business loss
  • Plants and facilities
  • Environmental exposures and liabilities
  • Federal and state regulatory compliance
  • Voluntary and government-mandated cleanups
  • Supply and distribution agreements
  • Permit enforcement
  • Citizen challenge proceedings
  • Cost recovery actions
  • Natural resource damage claims
  • Testing and data development agreements
  • Strategic alliance agreements
  • Product liability litigation
  • Intellectual property
  • Mergers and acquisitions

As former in-house corporate and external counsel, attorneys in the Agricultural Chemicals & Pesticides Practice Group have represented major agricultural and chemical companies, such as manufacturers and distributors of pesticides (including herbicides, insecticides, rodenticides, and fungicides). Through this representation, the practice group has gained extensive knowledge and experience in the science and industry practices regarding most classes of chemicals (e.g., FIFRA, CERCLA, RCRA, and state statutory regimes).

Additionally, members of the group frequently represent clients in regulatory proceedings that require negotiations to develop the most cost-effective permitting and soil and groundwater investigative and remedial strategies. The team works with the EPA, DOJ, Department of the Interior, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as well as state regulatory agencies and local air pollution control districts.
