Gordon & Rees Ranked No. 60 on 2019 NLJ 500 and No. 36 on Women in Law Scorecard

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani is now ranked as the 60th largest global firm by headcount according to The National Law Journal's NLJ 500 annual survey of the world's largest law firms. This three spot jump (up from the 63rd spot in 2018) is a result of the firm's continued strategic growth across the nation, culminating in its recent accomplishment of becoming the country's first and only law firm with offices and attorneys located in all 50 states.

"We are very proud of our continued positive rankings which reflect the firm's ongoing expansion," said Dion Cominos, Firmwide Managing Partner. "Most importantly our growth has not occurred for its own sake but instead to allow us to best service our clients on a national stage with outstanding legal professionals and staff."

The firm also ranked 36th on the NLJ Women in Law Scorecard which is six spot jump from 2018. Only the largest 350 firms that are part of the annual NLJ 500 survey are eligible for the Women's Scorecard. The Women in Law score is determined by adding the percentage of female attorneys and percentage of female partners. The firm's NLJ rankings for 2019 are a steady advance of more than 100 spots since it first appeared on the survey in 2013.

"Diversity and inclusion is a key part of our culture at Gordon & Rees," said Debra Ellwood Meppen, Partner and Chair of Gordon & Rees' Women's Initiative. "Our ranking reflects the positive growth opportunities and support our firm offers women attorneys. We are very pleased to be listed among the largest law firms globally that provide a robust platform for women attorneys to thrive in the legal profession."

Since its founding 45 years ago in San Francisco, Gordon & Rees has steadily increased its attorney headcount to a size of nearly 1,000 attorneys at this time, with more than 50 practice and industry groups spanning the gamut from transactional to commercial litigation services.

Also marking Gordon & Rees' position among the nation's largest law firms, is its recent ranking as the 35th largest law firm in the U.S. by domestic attorney headcount in Law360's 2019 list of the 400 largest law firms in the nation.

“Many of our national, regional and local practices have quadrupled without merging with other firms and without incurring any debt," said Cominos. "Our continued positive results, diverse lateral talent, cost effectiveness, and responsiveness have helped us achieve our long-term goal of becoming a truly national legal services provider with integrated and seamless coast-to-coast coverage for our clients."

The NLJ 500 data is collected from firms at the same time as the Am Law financial numbers. ALM sent surveys this year to more than 900 law firms to determine the 500 largest U.S.-centric firms by headcount. Lawyer totals are based on the average number of full-time equivalent (FTE) attorneys for the period between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018.
