Seattle Partner Derek Bishop Serves as a Panelist for Return to Work Webinars

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Seattle partner Derek Bishop will serve as a panelist for Reopening the Office for Work, a two-part webinar co-sponsored by the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (“WDTL”) and the Washington State Bar Association (“WSBA”) Corporate Counsel Section.

This program will feature panel discussions on some of the challenges employers face as they transition their workforce back into the workplace. The first webinar, Returning to the Office will be held September 9, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Pacific time. The second webinar, Remote Work will be held September 23, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Pacific time. Bishop will co-present with Jon Morrone, Assistant General Counsel of Holland America Group and Elaine Pascua, Assistant General Counsel of TrueBlue.

The two-part webinar series will examine the current state of who can/cannot return to the office in the state of Washington, health screenings, safe spaces and tips on preparing workers to return to the workspace. Discussion topics will also include rehiring issues, tips for avoiding claims of discrimination and retaliation, EEO considerations, sick and leave laws, and unemployment availability.

Bishop is a partner in the Employment practice group, his practice focuses on complex civil litigation and employment law. He defends employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and violation of wage and hour laws brought either by individual employees or on behalf of a class of employees. In addition, he defends clients involved in other complex civil disputes, including claims for violation of the Consumer Protection Act and breach of contract. He has represented clients in arbitration, as well as state and federal trial and appellate courts.
