Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Publishes Employment Law Article Authored by Partners Sarah Turner and Hieu Williams

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Seattle partner Sarah Turner and San Francisco partner Hieu Williams authored "EEOC Permits Employers to Mandate COVID Vaccinations to Employees: Now What?" was published in the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (“WDTL”) Winter 2021 Defense News publication.

The article examines recent COVID-19 vaccine developments, and the recently released U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (“EEOC”) guidelines for workplace safety indicating that employers can mandate vaccinations. The article provides insight for employers now tasked with drafting new vaccine policies and guidance for navigating legal pitfalls they may encounter.

Turner is a member of the Employment Law, ERISA/Life, Health & Disability, and Cannabis, Hemp & CBD practice groups. She represents clients in Washington and Oregon, and is an attorney in the Seattle and Portland office.  Her employment and labor practice focuses on employers and includes a hybrid of counseling and litigation.  She is an experienced litigator who has represented and defended employers in matters involving claims for wrongful discharge, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, privacy, defamation, ADA, leave and benefits, breach of contract, violation of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, and wage and hour.

Williams is a member of the firm’s Employment Law, Entertainment & Recreation Law, and Cannabis, Hemp & CBD practice groups. She regularly defends employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, breach of contract, and wage and hour class action violations. Her employment law experience includes representing organizations, executives, and supervisors from various industries including but not limited to healthcare, education, food and beverage, and non-profit organizations.
