Los Angeles Employment Team Obtains Jury Trial Defense Verdict

Los Angeles Employment partners Theresa Kristovich and Joshua Wagner achieved an important trial victory on behalf of their client, one of the largest providers of post-secondary education in the U.S., in Ventura Superior Court.  Plaintiff alleged causes of action against her former employer for wrongful termination, retaliation, and breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing.

Plaintiff claimed that she was wrongfully terminated and retaliated against after having made a good faith complaint of harassment by a co-worker.  She also asserted that after thirteen years of employment, there was an agreement that she would only be terminated for good cause.  Gordon & Rees vigorously denied each allegation.

After a four-day jury trial, the jury deliberated for 4 hours and returned a complete defense verdict as to all three causes of action.  The jury further voted in favor of Gordon & Rees's after acquired evidence affirmative defense.
