Gordon & Rees Ranked No. 63 on 2018 NLJ 500

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani has ranked as the 63rd largest global firm by headcount according to The National Law Journal's NLJ 500 annual survey of the world's largest law firms. Since the firm first appeared on the survey in 2013, it has steadily advanced more than 100 spots and has consistently been recognized among the fastest growing law firms in the nation. The firm also ranked 54th on the NLJ Women in Law Scorecard. Only the largest 350 firms that are part of the annual NLJ 500 annual survey are eligible for the Women's Scorecard. The Women in Law Score is determined by adding the percentage of female attorneys and percentage of female partners.

Gordon & Rees' strong year also manifested itself in its seven spot jump to 103 ranking from 2017 on The American Lawyer's Am Law 200 list of the nation's top-grossing firms based upon domestic revenue. The firm also ranked 42 in the Diversity Scorecard. During the past 10 years, the firm has climbed more than 50 spots in the Am Law 200 and nearly 100 on the Diversity Scorecard. All four surveys were released in April through June 2018.  "We are most pleased about our continued positive rankings which reflect the firm's ongoing expansion," said Dion Cominos, firmwide managing partner. "Most importantly our growth has not occurred for its own sake but instead to allow us to best service our clients on a national stage with outstanding legal professionals and staff.”

Also recognizing the firm's continued expansion, Law360 ranked Gordon & Rees as the 40th largest law firm in the U.S. in its 2018 ranking of the 400 largest law firms in the nation. Since 2014, the firm has expanded its attorney headcount by more than 50 percent, from 535 attorneys to its current count of more than 800, and has also increased partner headcount by nearly 50 percent, from 240 to more than 350. The firm has also expanded its number of offices since 2014, from 34 to 51 nationwide. In 2017-2018 alone, the firm opened 13 in new locations including Cincinnati, Columbus, Detroit, Lincoln, Omaha, Louisville, Missoula, Providence, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, Milwaukee, New Orleans and Wilmington.

“Many of our national, regional and local practices have quadrupled without merging with other firms and without incurring any debt," said Cominos. "Our continued positive results, diverse lateral talent, cost effectiveness, and responsiveness have helped us achieve our long-term goal of becoming a truly national legal services provided with integrated and seamless coast-to-coast coverage for our clients."

The NLJ 500 data is collected from firms at the same time as the Am Lawfinancial numbers. ALM sent surveys this year to more than 900 law firms to determine the 500 largest U.S.-centric firms by headcount. Lawyer totals are based on the average number of full-time equivalent (FTE) attorneys for the period between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2017.
