Gordon & Rees’s Carl Gebo and Cecily McLeod Present at ASBCC / USWCC National Small Business Contracting Summit

On Jan. 23, Gordon & Rees partner Carl A. Gebo and associate Cecily J. McLeod of Atlanta spoke at the 5th Annual ASBCC / USWCC National Small Business Contracting Summit, Southeast, presented by the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Small Business Contractors. Gebo and McLeod addressed the topic “Teaming Strategies,” which examined strategic and legal considerations for government contractors to have successful teaming arrangements on public procurements.

Gebo and McLeod discussed the differences between joint ventures, teaming agreements, and subcontracts, as well as common pitfalls encountered by companies using these methods to enhance their chances of securing awards of government contracts.  Their remarks also highlighted the risks that certain actions presented to a company’s preferred socio-economic status (women-owned, disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, etc.) may have on their attempts to team with larger companies.

Approximately 200 owners, stakeholders, and decision-makers of companies that have or seek federal or state government contracts attended the annual conference held in Orlando, Fla.  A majority of the businesses represented at the conference are in the construction industry, but all sectors of public procurement were represented.

This was the third consecutive year Gebo and McLeod presented at the summit.
