GRSM Denver Attorney Trent Cromartie Published in NYU Annual Survey of American Law

Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani Denver Associate Trent Cromartie authored an article in New York University’s (NYU) Annual Survey of American Law, entitled “Big Data: Guising and Functionally Creeping Toward Civil Death.” The article, included in Volume 82, Issue 1, was accepted by NYU while Cromartie was completing his clinical teaching fellowship with the University of Denver – Sturm College of Law.

The article focuses on the progression of AI and its impact upon existing legal processes. It specifically explores the potential risks associated with the rapid development of AI, as well as related technologies, and how said technologies may diminish or otherwise adversely impact existing individual rights or protections in our legal system if the influence of such technology is left unchecked.

Cromartie is an Associate in the Denver office who manages a diverse caseload, including professional liability, construction and design defect, real estate, breach of contract, and commercial litigation matters. He completed his fellowship in May 2025, earning an LLM in clinical legal education. During the fellowship, he assisted with running the University of Denver’s Civil Litigation Clinic where he supervised and instructed student attorneys as they appeared in county court disputes and practiced under his license through Colorado’s Student Practice Act. Although Cromartie was only required to prepare one article of publishable quality, he was successfully published twice while also working at GRSM during his fellowship.
