Joseph Fiorello is a results-oriented litigator and problem solver with more than ten years of legal experience handling matters in a variety of practice areas. Joseph has represented multiple private trucking companies, excess insurance carriers insuring motor carriers, and truck owners in matters involving catastrophic trucking accidents, and regulatory compliance. He has tried multiple trucking matters in jurisdictions across the country, resulting in favorable outcomes for his clients, and has first-chair trial experience throughout the state of Ohio.
- Served as first-chair counsel in the defense of a motor carrier and obtained a defense verdict after successfully arguing the sudden emergence defense doctrine.
- Served as second-chair counsel in a multi-week out of state trial, defending an energy solutions company in a matter stemming from a fatal crash involving the company’s commercial motor vehicle.
- Served as second-chair counsel, in a one-week out of state trial, defending an energy solutions company in a matter concerning a high-speed crash involving the company’s commercial motor vehicle.
- Served as first-chair counsel representing a county of Ohio concerning the administrative appeal of a rural ditch petition.
- Served as first-chair counsel in the defense of a housing authority against discriminatory housing claims which resulted in the Hearing Officer’s finding in favor of the housing authority.
- Successfully defended landlords, housing authorities, and corporations in Civil Service Commission claims.
- Successfully defended political subdivisions through motions for summary judgment on political subdivision immunity, qualified immunity, and absolute/qualified privilege grounds.
- Negotiated seven-figure settlements in transportation actions.
