Bo Thompson is a Partner in the firm’s Raleigh office. He is a North Carolina native whose practice areas include professional liability defense, healthcare, agribusiness and toxic tort law, privacy & data security, products liability, and general liability matters. He has experience in all phases of litigation from pre-suit claims through trial.

Professional Liability Defense 

Bo has nearly two decades of experience defending healthcare professionals, their practices, as well as hospitals and other healthcare facilities and their staff against claims of alleged medical malpractice.  He also represents accountants, appraisers, attorneys, educators, farmers, law enforcement officers, property managers, real estate developers, realtors, and other regulated business owners and their state-licensed employees. 

Healthcare

Bo also represents physicians and providers subpoenaed to testify at deposition or trial in matters where they are not the target defendant, providing advice and counsel on how best to avoid becoming a target.

Agribusiness and Environmental & Toxic Tort

Bo has worked with dozens of landowners and growers in litigation regarding farms in numerous, historically agricultural counties in Eastern North Carolina. He assists his agribusiness clients in preparing for court-ordered site inspections, depositions, document production, pre-trial hearings, and trial. He participated in four month-long trials in the Eastern District of North Carolina as personal counsel to several independent farmers.

Cyber, Privacy & Data Security

Bo's work in the healthcare field necessarily includes advising providers regarding the private and protected health information kept by healthcare professionals regarding their patients. He regularly responds to requests for patient information on behalf of health providers and covered entities sent by a variety of third parties.

He represents individuals and corporations in a variety of cases and claims in general civil matters, including matters involving intentional torts, property damage, premises liability, dram shop matters, and claims alleging unfair and deceptive trade practices, embezzlement, and fraud. Bo also represents businesses and manufacturers in products liability and personal injury claims.
